Privacy Policy

Quillard is built on a simple idea: your writing is nobody’s business but yours. This page says plainly what little we know about you, why, and what we will never do.

What the app collects

Nothing. The Quillard app has no telemetry, no analytics, and no account system. It does not know you exist. Your manuscripts, settings, licence record and snapshots live in files on your own computer. Dictation runs on your machine; nothing you say leaves it. If the app crashes, it writes a report to your disk and nothing is sent unless you choose to email it yourself, after reading it.

What this website collects

One thing, at one moment: when you download the beta, we ask for your email address. Together with it we record the platform you chose, the app version, the date, and the network address the request came from.

We use this to keep a record of beta licences, to contact you about your licence if that is ever genuinely necessary, and, at launch, to offer beta writers their discount. That is the whole list. No newsletter you did not ask for, no sharing, no selling, ever.

The record is stored in a small database on our own server in the European Union. It is not given to analytics companies, advertisers, or anyone else.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics, and only with your consent: nothing loads until you choose Accept on the cookie notice, and choosing Decline stores nothing but the choice itself. We use it to see which pages help writers find Quillard, with IP anonymisation switched on. Google acts as a processor of this data; their own privacy terms apply to it. You can change your mind by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which brings the notice back.

One honest caveat: the site’s typefaces load from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests files from Google’s servers and Google sees your network address, as with any font or image loaded from a third party. We may self-host the fonts in a future update to remove even that.

Sync and collaboration

Syncing happens through folders you control, or directly between your paired computers. When sync travels through our relay over the internet, every book and chat message is sealed end to end with AES-256-GCM using a key that only your paired machines hold. The relay stores ciphertext it cannot read, under identifiers it cannot connect to you.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, at any time. The simplest way to reach the maker is Help → Report a Problem inside the app, which opens a note addressed to us, or the Discord linked in the footer. Deleting your email ends your beta licence record; the app on your computer keeps working regardless, because your words are never hostage.

Changes

If this policy changes, the change and its date appear here and on the Updates page. We will not quietly get worse.
