Onboarding, crash reports, and a licence with your name on itnews

Three quiet foundations this week:

  • A proper welcome. First launch asks your name, offers the six rooms, and licenses the copy to you, free, by name. A “Start Here” book teaches the app from inside a real manuscript: you bold its sentences, click its comments, follow its link.
  • Crash reports you can read. If Quillard ever goes down, it writes a plain-text report on your disk, version, what happened, the last few moves. Next launch offers to email it. Nothing is ever sent by itself.
  • Help → Welcome Tour replays all of it whenever you like.

The Typist rooms and the sound of keysnews

Themes stopped being colour schemes:

  • Three typewriters, Antique black steel on a wood desk, seafoam Mint, and gloss-black Noir with manila paper and a red ribbon.
  • A carriage that follows your caret and slams home on Enter. We regret nothing.
  • Sound, if you want it, a synthesized typewriter for Typist, soft mechanical taps for WordStar and Kaypro, a bell when a book syncs. Every sound has an off switch.
  • Kaypro grew a second skin, Matrix rain-green, for the nights that call for it.

Quillard 0.1.1release

  • The installer went on a diet, about a third smaller on every platform.
  • Windows now ships a proper installer instead of a zip.
  • SHA-256 checksums are published beside every download.
  • Update checks happen quietly once a day; “Skip this version” is remembered.
  • For article writers: headline counter, deadline beacons, inline links (⌘K), and Copy as Markdown / HTML.

The beginning. Books, chapters and sections; tracked changes and margin comments; sync over your own folders with review-before-apply; six themes; offline dictation; exports to Word, EPUB, typeset PDF and Markdown; a research board; screenplays with Tab-cycled elements.
